Perry Michael Downs died March 23rd, 2003. Perry was born in Johnson City, TN, and was a son of the late Marshall Gerald Downs. He attended Brevard College and Western Carolina University, and was employed with the Frito-Lay Company. He was a an active member of Bethesda United Methodist Church and a former member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Alpha B. Downs; his mother, Tootie Downs of Swannanoa; two brothers, Keith Downs and his wife Sherry of Arden and Joel Downs of Asheville; two step-sons, Barry Babb of Swannanoa and John Babb of Marion; a niece, Amber Downs, and two men whom Perry regarded as his “other brothers” Brian Bailey and Jack Brown.
