Elaine [Marcum] Hughes died October 22nd, 1984. She was 29. Elaine died from a car crash on Tunnel Road.
Elaine was born in Michigan and moved to Asheville before her senior year. Her dad was James Oscar and Her Mom was Mary Rose. She had one older sister. Elaine (Rose Elaine Marcum Hughes) married Steve Hughes from West Asheville. Steve is still a local musician in the area, playing for the band, Nightcrawlers. They had no children.
Elaine worked for Bell's Pappagallo Clothing Store in Biltmore Village as a Buyer and Manager. She traveled to various cities purchasing the latest fashions.
She was buried in the Green Hills Cemetery off of Leicester Highway.
