Roger Lee “Rooster” Myers, 54, of Asheville passed away Friday, February 1, 2008. Roger was born August 20, 1953 in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He was a proud 1973 graduate of Reynolds High School. Rooster loved race cars and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Ruby Searcy Myers; four brothers and one sister.
Roger is survived by his son, William Eugene Myers of Candler; fiancé, Connie Lynn Hardister; sisters, Frances Willix, Kathy Buckner and Shirley Myers all of Asheville, Hazel McMahan (Johnny) of Black Mountain, Linda Wheeler (Kenneth) of Barnardsville and Sharon Raines (Danny) of Hendersonville; brothers, Jerry Myers (Barbara) of Athens, TX and Ernest Myers (Peggy) of Asheville; sister in law, Joan Myers of Asheville; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Joey Crain and Benny Buckner.
A Celebration of Life service was held in the chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals, Black Mountain with the Reverends Frank Cantrell and Ken Sausedo officiating. Burial was in Grassy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
